Step 2 – Run the following command to install Chromium Browser. This will also install any dependencies required by the browser.
Command: apt install chromium-browser
Step 3 – Once the installation is complete, you can launch Chromium by searching for it in the start menu or by running the chromium-browser command in the terminal.

To set Chromium as the default web browser on an Ubuntu system, you can follow these steps:
- Open the “Settings” app.
- Click on the “Details” tab.
- Click on the “Default Applications” section.
- Scroll down to the “Web” section.
- Select “Chromium” from the drop-down menu.
Alternatively, you can use the update-alternatives command in the terminal to set Chromium as the default browser. Here’s how:
- Open a terminal window.
- Run the command sudo update-alternatives –config x-www-browser. This will display a list of available web browsers on your system.
- Select the number corresponding to Chromium from the list and press Enter.
This will set Chromium as the default web browser on your system. If you ever want to switch to a different default browser, you can follow these steps again and select a different option from the list.
